FAQs

Cementing additives control key properties of cement slurries—such as fluid loss, foaming, and placement—to ensure a proper hydraulic seal around the well casing, preventing fluid migration between formations. Without the right additives, uneven or contaminated cement placement can compromise zonal isolation and long-term well integrity.

Cement spacers like C-SP are pumped ahead of the cement slurry to separate drilling mud from cement, preventing contamination that weakens the cement job and compromises zonal isolation. They also actively clean the wellbore and condition the casing surface for better cement bonding.

Fluid loss additives like C-FLA prevent cement slurries from dehydrating as filtrate escapes into the formation. This maintains consistent slurry properties and ensures complete placement across the full well interval. Without fluid loss control, the slurry can bridge prematurely, leading to poor zonal isolation.

A defoamer like C-DFM eliminates foam in cement slurries during mixing and pumping, while also functioning as an antifoam agent to prevent foam from forming in the first place. Foam in cement causes inaccurate density measurements and weak cement structure, making foam control essential to a successful cement job.

Organophilic calcium carbonate like Glidecarb offers significantly better compatibility with polymer-based completion fluids than standard calcium carbonate. Because it can be completely acid-dissolved after use to restore formation permeability, it is the preferred choice in completion and drill-in fluids where formation damage prevention is critical.
